Visit Perouges Medieval Town & Sparkling Wine Tasting in Beaujolais

At 9:00 AM, hop aboard your small-group tour minibus from Place Bellecour in Lyon and head to the medieval town of Pérouges, just a 40-minute drive away.

Step back in time as you explore this beautifully preserved town, a filming location for movies like The Three Musketeers. Wander along its charming cobblestone streets with your guide, discovering historic monuments and centuries-old houses dating from the 13th to 16th centuries.

Immerse yourself in Pérouges’ rich history and experience the local culture. On the main square, pause for a coffee or a slice of galette, the town’s famous specialty.

Next, journey through the scenic La Dombes region en route to the Beaujolais wine country.

At 11:30 AM, make your first stop at a Beaujolais winery to taste the region’s sparkling wines. With your guide, learn the secrets of their production before enjoying a tasting of three or four sparkling wines, including the famous Crémant de Bourgogne.

Visit Oingt Medieval Town & Wine Tasting at a Family Estate in Beaujolais

In the early afternoon, explore the charming village of Oingt, a beautifully preserved medieval town built from warm ochre-colored stone. Enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of rolling vineyards and wander through its quaint pedestrian streets, each with its own historic name.

Next, visit a family-run winery to learn about the rich history, terroir, and traditions of Beaujolais, meeting the winemaker in person.

Discover the art of vine cultivation and the unique semi-carbonic fermentation process that gives Beaujolais wines their distinctive character.

Finally, enjoy a guided tasting of five exceptional Beaujolais wines, including a white Chardonnay, a rosé, and three red Gamay wines. Then, relax on the journey back to Lyon.

Fantastic time of year to explore "the most beautiful villages of France!" Gorgeous buildings, wineries, food, ruins & shops. Bring your walking shoes, Google Translate (for the parking instructions and church explanations), and clothing layers. With only one exception, everyone was fantastically (sp?) NICE!! We had a lovely time wandering and learning. Highly recommend!!

My husband and I went on the full day Beaujolais tour that visited Oingt and Perouges. Olivier was a wonderful host and had so much knowledge of the region. The places we visited it seemed like we were the only people there, the lack of crowds made it much more enjoyable. My next trip here I would love to do one of his other tours. Olivier is a phenomenal guide. We did a private tour with him to the Beaujolais Region and Perouges. He made stops in Charnay, Chessy les Mines, Bagnols, Oignt and Perouges. We had a fabulous tour of a lovely vineyard, Domaine de fond-Vielle, where the owner spoke of the history of the vineyard and hosted an amazing tasting. I'd highly recommend a tour with Olivier; he shares so many interesting points about the area and never rushes his clients. He allows you to explore and experience each of the areas. We enjoyed an outstanding day with him.

The weather wasn’t good but our guide Sebastian was fantastic. He has great local and wine knowledge , easy to talk to and humorous. We had lunch at a local restaurant and had a local home cook lunch at a decent price. Our group get along well which makes the day really enjoyable.

We took a day trip to the Beaujolais region with Olivier and five other guests. We visited Chessy and Perouges and two wineries. We also stopped for an excellent lunch. The leaves on the vines had turned colour but had not yet fallen and provided an excellent backdrop for our photos. Olivier showed us several views for photos that we would never have found on our own. He also organised a tour of the vineyards by the 10 th generation owner of a family vineyard to explain how the grapes are grown and how the wine is made. Afterwards, we went to his tasting room and Olivier led a tasting of the wines made at the winery (the second of the day). We also visited Chessy and Perouges, which were different but both ancient and incredibly beautiful. Olivier explained the history and pointed out some interesting details. It was a very good day.

This was an awesome day - the gorgeous villages visited, the lovely wine tastings, gorgeous scenery and also the great explanations and very lovely manner of Oliver. Oliver is very professional and full of local knowledge and also very patient and thoughtful! He is one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had - he is down to earth and great to talk to. He made sure we could visit toilette’s everywhere which was great! The restaurant for lunch was a lovely experience and very delicious! Great tasting and also very reasonably priced. The other guests were great company and it was an all round lovely day!! (and of course Beaujolais wine is delicious!!) Highly recommended!!

Excellent tour, nice van to drive in and great company to share with the owner/tour operator, Olivier Delalande .He spoke french, english and spanish, the last language was a plus for us being from Mexico. He took us to a Beaujolais Domaine and arranged a niece place to eat even though it was a holiday when everything was closed , the last town of the visit was Perouges a place you don't want to miss .I highly recommend it

We were looking for an adventure in historic and interesting sights in the countryside near Lyon and we found exactly what we wanted in the Beaujolais Tour from Kanpai Tours. There were 8 people in our group and we all fit comfortably in a Mercedes step van. We started in a small scenic village near the edge of the Beaujolais which featured a scenic vista of the region. Next up was the quaint village of Oingt and a walk around this hilltop town. Next up was a sparkling wine winery with tastings of several of the local sparkling wines. We had lunch in an excellent restaurant with a variety of choices including meat, fish and vegetarian options. Then we were on our way to a winery that produces Beaujolais red wine from the Gamay grapes. The wine harvest was just finishing up and we met the wine maker and his son (who had to climb into the crusher to clean it out between batches). Our last and final stop was the medieval village of Pérouges which is a 13th Century village that is partially restored. It was like stepping in time and it was a wonderful conclusion of the tour. This business is run by Olivier who planned a great tour and was an excellent guide. FYI Beaujolais is a fine everyday wine but if you are looking for high-end French wines you might be better off with a Burgundy or Rhone tour.

Our group of 6 absolutely loved this tour. It was the highlight of our trip to Lyon. We were able to go to 2 different vineyards and taste multiple different wines from the region. The lunch in between the tastings was also excellent. Olivier is incredibly informed about both the region and wine! He was very friendly, and we had an amazing day. Absolutely would recommend.
