Discover the Northern Côtes du Rhône Vineyards:

At 9:00 am, your 8-seater minibus departs from Place Bellecour in Lyon toward the Northern Côtes du Rhône wine region.

On the way, stop in Vienne to admire a spectacular view of the 2,000-year-old Roman theatre and enjoy breathtaking panoramas over the Rhône Valley. With your guide, discover the unique terroir and learn about the grape varieties that define the Northern Côtes du Rhône appellations.

Then, drive through Ampuis, the world capital of Syrah, and explore the famous Côte-Rôtie vineyards, literally meaning “roasted hillside.” Travel along the steep, vertigo-inducing terraced slopes of Côte Brune and Côte Blonde, where sun-drenched hillsides with 30- to 60-degree inclines overlook the majestic Rhône River.

Later, continue through Condrieu, birthplace of the Viognier grape, producer of one of the world’s most renowned white wines. Learn the fascinating story of this rare varietal and how it narrowly escaped extinction just a few decades ago.

Then, step inside a first family-run winery for a private cellar tour and discover the unique Rhône Valley winemaking savoir-faire, including traditional methods and the art of barrel aging. Enjoy a guided tasting of five different Côtes du Rhône wines, featuring Condrieu, Saint-Joseph and/or Côte-Rôtie appellations.

Finally, visit a second winery to sample five additional outstanding Rhône wines. Take time to appreciate the intense aromatic expression of Viognier and the near-perfect elegance of Northern Rhône Syrah, tasted directly in their original terroir.
